Question by stalfos93: What are some differences and similarities between lutheranism and catholicism?

I need help finding out similarities and differences between Lutheranism and Catholicism, specifically on their authority, sacraments, and salvation.

There are many differences between the two, for one instance when Martin Luther split from the Catholic teachings he wrote his own interpretation of the bible, leaving out some things. Lutheran is not as gaudy as the catholic church meaning that the lutheran church is more simple with simple pictures, no gold statues or idols, etc. Lutherans have only a couple sacraments, i dont know them for sure so look them up yourself but the catholic church teaches seven sacraments: Baptism, Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, Holy Matrimony, Holy Orders, and Anointing of the Sick. For salvation Lutherans believe in salvation by faith and good works. Hope that helps some.
